I spent about an hour Thursday afternoon cruising around SW of McMinnville
looking for raptors. I found many RED-TAILED HAWKS, 1 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK
(midway on Hook and Eye Lane), 1 RED-SHOULDERED HAWK (on the NW side of the
Yellow-headed Blackbird marsh/pond on south end of Briedwell Rd.), and many
AMERICAN KESTRELS. No Prairie Falcon.
A couple of flocks of CACKLING GEESE, but as Stefan reported it seems like
relatively few ducks around, other than a few expected species at the Monastery
Pond.
At the big Monastery Pond I heard a GREATER YELLOWLEGS tu-tu-tu call but did
not see it; worth investigating further.
