Folks,
Kay Fagan, Marianne McClellan, Irene Stewart, and I ran Carol Karlen's long
Yamhill County Raptor Route today. Roads were passable, wet, with only one
slick spot. We had some sprinkles in the afternoon and a bit of fog. The
route is 106 miles and took 7 hr 47 min.
72 Red-tailed Hawks - including a nice Harlan's at the kink in Tucker Rd in
Polk County near Balston
6 Rough-legged Hawks of all ages
11 adult Bald Eagles
17 sub-adult Bald Eagles
4 N. Harriers
85 Kestrels
3 Cooper's Hawks
1 Prairie Falcon - back at the spot I saw it Dec. 30 on Briedwell Rd SW
of Whiteson, at 45.145280, -123.235115 <javascript:void(0)>
We found 7 adult and 17 sub-adult Bald Eagles at the refuse pile of the
chicken farm off Hwy 233.
We had a great day.
Good birding, everyone,
