This morning at Finley Refuge south of Corvallis, we saw three White Tailed
Kites. Two were hunting over the fields along the road at the north entrance
and one was sitting in a snag at the top of a hill west of Cabell Marsh. We
watched the two at the north entrance for several minutes as they circled,
hovered, then fluttered down to the tall grass like a toy kite with no lift.
Then, up again into the air to continue their hunt. Beautiful.
