Hello,On Tuesday, March 10 I was birding east of Joseph. I was driving north on
Prairie Creek Road approaching Little Sheep Creek Road when I noticed a large
white object in the trees on the west side of the road. I thought it was
strange so I stopped quickly and as I was getting my binoculars to me eyes the
object flew! I was probably 100 yards from it so all I saw was white. It flew
north very close to the ground. I saw it land on what probably was a fence
post, so I started driving in its direction. Unfortunately it was way out in
the middle of a field with no good viewing location. The best spot was along
Little Sheep Creek Road looking north towards Walker Lane. As I was getting my
scope out it flew off again and I just couldn't follow it. To my eyes it flew
like a redtail but I was surprised that it didn't stay put for me. In that
sense it acted more like the rough-legged hawks in the area.
