Hi All,
I went on a bird walk sponsored by the Backyard Bird Shop this morning. We went
to Kelly Point Park in North Portland. A flock of approximately 20 White
Pelicans circled in the sky above the river. I completely forgot to count the
sight was so lovely, all those white birds against a blue sky, when they banked
into a turn they flashed pure white wings accented with black. They might have
landed on the water if the water ski people had slept in a bit longer. Oh well.
Also a big day for flycatchers in the park. Saw at least two pairs of adults
tending to their fledglings.
Also seen: Yellow Warbler, Double-crested Cormorant, Brown Creeper,
Red-breasted Sap Sucker, Northern Flicker, Downy Woodpecker, Osprey, Canada
Geese, Song Sparrow, Spotted Towhee, Robin, Black-capped Chickadee,
Black-headed Grosbeak, Bush-tits, House Finch, Cedar Waxwings and Crows. Heard
White Breasted Nuthatch.
I know I'm forgetting something. However, thought people would like to know
about the Pelicans.
