Hi all,
I visited the Philomath sewage ponds yesterday morning. There were 2
Western Grebes there, one in the south pond and one in the northwest pond.
I wondered if they knew each other were in the same vicinity. As in, did
they arrive together and then decide to have some alone time or they
disagreed on which pond looked the most inviting? Or, was it just random
that individual Western Grebes happened to arrive at the PPP at the same
time? These are my foy WEGR in Benton County so I don't think there have
been very many passing through. Just random pondering on my part. :-)
There were also a large number of Least Sandpipers at the ponds. I counted
70, seen in several groups, along with 12 Dunlin.
