We went to Wasco County for Easter. It was very windy. Best birds were:
2 LONG-BILLED CURLEWS foraging in a field south of Juniper Flat Road, three
or four telephone poles west of Hwy 197. We saw them feeding at 10:50 AM,
and resting at the edge of the field when we checked back at 2:40 PM. This
is slightly east of where we saw them last year.
6 TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS on Victor Road at the farm (approx 1 mile north of
Hwy 216) where they've been seen several times in the past.
1 beautiful, late-ish ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK on Friend Rd.
2 GOLDEN EAGLES, one soaring above the White River when we were parked at
an overlook on White River Crossing Road, and one above the Oak Springs
Fish Hatchery. Golden Eagles were far and few between for us last year, so
it was nice to see two just a couple of hours apart.
