OBOLers,
I have recently heard that a number of snowy owls were seen in the Seattle
area. My understanding is that these are marked as sensitive in eBird and would
not be reported via a standard eBird RBA. Are there local listserves, WhatsApp
groups or other communication media by which one could learn of these sightings
and the details? I would like to quietly observe and experience a snowy owl at
a safe distance, and have no intentions of sharing the information with
unethical birders, poking it with a stick or throwing pebbles to get its
attention, clapping to flush it, trapping, poisoning, shooting or running it
over. Please send helpful information my way, and feel free to e-mail or text
me directly unless the response benefits the hundreds of OBOL subscribers.
