OBOLers,
I checked the heronry on Royal Ave across from Candlelight Park today. I check
it quickly anytime I'm biking to Meadowlark Prairie. There's been at least 3
active Great Blue Heron nests this year. Today, for the first time this year,
there were two Great Egrets standing in the trees. Maybe they are nesting here
and the nests are just really hidden? I also saw an egret in the same trees on
July 2, 2014.
If you want to check these trees by car, be aware that you would need to park
by Candlelight Park and walk down Royal. Also, the heron nests are above
residential houses, so I usually don't glass them for too long.
