Just had what I think were two sandhill cranes fly over me at farmer rd east of
Baskett Slough. They were headed north-west. I didn’t initially have my scope
(but I ran back to my car). I heard a nice rattle call, and they were gray and
long like a swan, but definitely not white. Do swans ever make a rattle call in
flight? IBird has something of a rattle call for tundra swans, but that isn’t
what I normally think of for tundra or trumpeter swans. I wish I had been
carrying my scope... going to look for them around Baskett Slough and north.
Cheers!
