I counted 83 Turkey Vultures over my house in SW Portland (Taylors Ferry x
53rd Ave) this evening in about a one minute period. They were streaming
along in a stretched out line low over the western ridge/edge of Fanno
Creek watershed headed WSW in the direction of Tigard. Others reported
large numbers moving this evening as well:
5:06 WhatsApp/Ondie asked if anyone in N. Portland saw that "giant swarm
of birds? Are they Turkey Vultures?"
5:10 WhatsApp/Tom reported 80 kettling near Scappoose then heading south
5:30 83 streaming along over my house near SW Taylors Ferry x 53rd Ave
heading WSW toward Tigard.
Interesting to know if that was the same group observed three times or
multiple groups. I looked at each one hoping to see a wayward Black
Vulture, but no such luck.
