Today appeared to me to be quite the Homecoming Day for Townsend Warblers
in Eugene. As Dennis Arendt's earlier report notes, we had 5 on our
morning walk in Alton Baker Park. As I recall, several of those were part
of a mixed flock. Then this afternoon, my yard hosted 1 on my (homemade)
suet, a first ever yard bird for me. And to top it off, another Townsend
Warbler joined it, crowding in between the Bushtits, a Ruby-crowned
Kinglet, Bewick's Wren, and a Song Sparrow.
I'd be interested to hear of others have observed a recent influx of TOWA's.
Not bad for winter birding
