Some of you know that I have been pursuing Dave Irons’ Lane County Big Year
record of 289 set in 2008. This morning I was very happy to tie that record
with a Palm Warbler. I was astonished to reach 290 with a Dusky Warbler, one
of those birds that we look at in the bird books but never expect to actually
find.
My understanding is that the bird was relocated this afternoon and at least
some photos obtained.
A pleasant day in the field. And more such days to come.
Thanks to all of you who have encouraged my effort, not least of whom was Dave.
This has been my first-ever big year and has got me into corners of my home
county that I hardly knew.
