Tillamook East Raptor Run
Mike and I drove 53.7 miles in about 5 hours. It was a beautiful day of mixed
rain, sun, and high clouds.
Raptor numbers are down from last year. Considering how many farm fields are on
our route, it seems odd that we don’t find more harriers.
Red-tailed Hawk 29
American Kestrel 7
Northern Harrier 2
Bald Eagle 5 (4 adult, 1 subadult)
Rough-legged Hawk 1
White-tailed Kite 2
(One was on the north side of the Wilson River, as viewed from the end of Olson
Rd).
Cooper’s Hawk 1
Peregrine Falcon 1
Red-shouldered Hawk ZERO
It was fun! We love doing this project.
