This morning on Coxcomb Hill - 5/1/2014 I did 15-minute interval stationary counts at the lower meadow gap this morning from 7:00 to 9:00. Temperature were in the low to mid 60's with a very light east wind. Lot's of action, 46 species total. First of the season birds seen: Western Kingbird 1 Warbling Vireo 1 Yellow Warbler 2 Western Tanager 40 (steady pulses all morning) Black-headed Grosbeak 2 Evening Grosbeak 7 Warbler numbers continue to be impressive as well with seven species noted. ORANGE-CROWNS and YELLOW-RUMPS still out numbering other species. Butterfly activity has been pretty good in the warmer than average early morning conditions with a noticeable PAINTED LADY movement, ANISE SWALLOWTAIL, ECHO AZURE and a single BROWN ELFIN. -- Mike Patterson Astoria, OR Some assembly required http://www.surfbirds.com/community-blogs/northcoastdiaries/?p=1888 OBOL archives: www.freelists.org/archive/obol Manage your account or unsubscribe: //www.freelists.org/list/obol Contact moderators: obol-moderators@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
