We had fun on our last raptor run today. We drove 52.9 miles in 4 hr, 10 min.
Weather was 49 to 53 degrees with intermittent light rain and sun.
Interestingly, both Rough-legged Hawks are still around; one at its usual post
on Hughey Lane and the other off Wilson River Loop Road. Most interesting
finding today was ten Bald Eagles! Five were grouped around something
apparently good to eat (too far away to see what it was) off Wilson River Loop.
No White-tailed Kites or Red-shouldered Hawks today.
Many Turkey vultures were on the move.
Results:
Red-tailed Hawks 15
American Kestrels 10
Bald Eagles 10
(8 adult, 2 subadult)
Northern Harrier 2
Rough-legged Hawks 2
Looking forward to next year,
Kathy and Mike Krall
