Usually by now I have heard the flight calls of nocturnally migrating
Swainson's Thrushes overhead from my Seaside home. I usually detect the
first migrants by 18 August. I am not sure what it means that I have heard
none yet this year. Tonight I have heard many Least and Western Sandpipers,
Spotted Sandpiper, Red-necked Phalarope/ Sanderling; and a few unknown
passerines that were probably Yellow Warblers.
