Perhaps 20 juncos in our SE Portland yard today, a few more than usual.

Same in west Eugene. My guess is that lack of snow in the mountains and
further north has allowed some of them to hang higher. It is snowing in the
Cascades tonight; we’ll see what happens.

in East Portland. September fires I can understand made things tough
for much wildlife. I thought the juncos would return in October - feeders
ready and their usual companions, GCS, Fox Sparrows and finches arrived. I
have seen a handful of juncos in the neighborhood, but none in my yard.
What gives, anybody know?
