Today, I stopped by the Port of Alsea in Waldport during the king tide then
drove around the north side of the bay and apparently right past the ruff
along N. Bayview Road. I then along South Beaver Creek Road. The only
note worthy observation I made was 18 killdeer roosting around a puddle in
a pasture.
In Seal Rock I went down on the beach at the south highway overlook and got
close to some accommodating shorebirds foraging on the intertidal rocks.
Birds present included 6 black oystercatchers, 32 surf birds, 14 black
turnstones, 2 rock sandpipers, and 12 sanderlings. The sanderlings joined
the rockpipers on the rocks but mostly stayed on the flat algae covered
rocks.
