Forgot to mention two Brown Boobies (an adulated immature) that kept circling
the ship, and probably landing, about 30 miles off Pismo Beach, CA.

We saw the animal from front on for a very short period when it came out of
the water water part way. On perhaps as few as 2 of the 50 plus cruises off
Oregon we have seen Risso’s Dolphins, which are large and others might eb
confused with a Short-finned Pilot whale. The animal we saw on the recent
cruise didn’t hve the usual scarring of a Riso’s Dolphin. We did not get
photos.
The Oregon Sperm Whale put n a good and repeated show not far off. The Blue
Whale off California was very close to the ship.
The birding off California was better than usual, and included: .

2 Laysan Albatroses - close
5 So. Polar Skuas
