My afternoon walk from my home down and around the Neawanna mill ponds and
back produced my first-of-season observation of RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD. I also
saw a large butterfly that was probably a Mourning Cloak, but could have
been a Red Admirable. It was dark scaled in general.

I can see why people complain about Ebird. The mobile application promised
so much, but does not deliver. It is a start. And I am a new user, so
hopefully things will get easier for me. I don't know why I can't enter the
rare birds from my mobile application, but only from the full Ebird site.
Birdnotes promised so little and delivered so much. Ebird thinks everyone
is conducting point counts, when in fact most are not. I know they know
this, but the ebird phenomenon still acts as if they don't, or so it would
seem. On the other hand, I am all for citizen science and the collection,
archiving and sharing of distributional biological data over space and
time. Go Ebird.
