I have an update for you…Yesterday (11/25) we saw the Sea Otter. First seen
approximately 12:30, looking north from the base of the lighthouse. The Otter
moved east and south and therefore out of sight. We then moved to set the scope
along the rail looking north directly north of the bathrooms, where we watched
it until about 13:15. The otter was foraging, and washing his face just
hanging out, moving steadily away parallel to shore. A women who was there,
who normally volunteers at the park, was the first to see it pointing it out
to us. She commented that it was about 2 hours after low tide that we saw it.
Also I’m pretty sure that we saw it eat a crab, and the WEGU started mobbing it
strongly then, eventually there were 10-12 gulls bugging the otter. This
actually proved to be the most reliable way to find the otter as the distance
increased from our observation point.
Hope this helps.
Dan

Is it an actual Sea Otter or a sea going River Otter?
