Well, some of us _have_ tried squirrel stew. I was in school in North
Florida and had my
back-to-nature period, living in an unheated cabin for 2 years, on
beautiful little Lake Geneva.
No heat was fine in the summer, but winters got pretty cold at times.
Anyhow, a hunter friend
convinced me I should also become a hunter, and squirrels were an easy
prey. I
believe I got the squirrel stew recipe from a Herter's publication. (How
many people even
know who/what Herters is/was)? I WOULD NOT recommend it, although it was
more
likely my cooking deficiencies rather than any failing on the part of the
two squirrels involved.
I've never had the stomach to try it since.

Yesterday afternoon I installed a brand new owl box on a tree I could see
from the kitchen. This morning about 8:15 I look out and there is an owl
looking out of the box. They work!!!
