Oregon Birding Association (OBA) and Washington Ornithological Society
(WOS) are thrilled to announce the keynote speaker for our joint virtual
2020 annual meeting. We are fortunate to have engaged master teacher,
birder and writer Dr. J. Drew Lanham, Distinguished Professor of Wildlife
Ecology at Clemson University. A former American Birding Association (ABA)
Board member, Lanham has written for many publications including Orion and
Audubon magazines and The New York Times, and is a published poet. His book
*The
Home Place: Memoirs of a Colored Man’s Love Affair with Nature* won the
2017 Southern Book Prize. His research focuses on songbird ecology, as
well as the African-American role in natural resources conservation. J.
Drew Lanham was interviewed by OBA member Noah Stryker for the April 2020
issue of Birding magazine.
