Rentenaar Road (aka sparrow alley) was a lot of fun this morning. I found
2 American Tree Sparrows near the west end of the road (just west of where
the Savannah Sparrows hang out). Swamp Sparrows put on a nice show
allowing close approach as they focused on feeding on some sort of aquatic
insect. A non-local Song Sparrow stuck out like a sore thumb at the seed
patch where the road crosses the wider slough. At least 2 White-throated
Sparrows were here too.
I chased a Brant reported yesterday from the dike at the end of the road.
No luck there. The Snow Geese put on their usual spectacular show.
