East Cascades Audubon Society's fall raptor survey got off to a flying
start today on our first weekend of the season with a fair number of birds
(103) and good species diversity (9). We stayed above the smokey horizons
on a mostly sunny day. Temperatures remained between 60 and 70 degrees and
light variable winds pushed raptors very high to the SE by late afternoon.
(Undoubtedly we missed a few but under our stringent protocol we only
counted the ones we saw.) Observers were Peter Low and Judy Meridith.
