*SAS SHORTS: CASCADES GATEWAY PARK BIRD WALK SUMMARY*
*September 24, 2018*
Hello Birders:
This morning, Fred led our SAS Shorts bird walk at Cascades Gateway Park.
Sixteen (16) other birders joined him for the walk. The walk took place
under fair skies with temperatures ranging from 51 to 58 degrees. We
walked around Walter Wirth Lake which was about a one-mile walk. We
observed (saw or heard) 31 species.
The best sighting was two Belted Kingfishers over the lake. There were a
lot of Mallards and four American Wigeons on the lake. We saw about 25
young Cedar Waxwings eating fruit on the east side of the lake. Also, some
birders saw a Western Bluebird. A complete list of today's birds follows.
Our next SAS bird walk will be on *Tuesday, October 2nd* at *Minto-Brown
Island Park*. Meet at 8*:00 AM* at Parking Lot # 3. Please join us if you

*Saturday,* *October 6th at 10:00 AM*. The workshop will be held at the
Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife, 4034 Fairview Industrial Dr S in
