I saw on eBird that single TURKEY VULTURES were at Gold Beach and Bandon on
the 15th- most certainly migrants.
I was able to refind the PALM WARBLER that Lars Norgren found on the Coos
Bay CBC yesterday (Friday) afternoon right around sunset- the only one I
have seen this year in Coos. It was on the east end of Florida St. along
the railroad tracks in N Bend. This is the last light before leaving N Bend
and heading over the McCullough bridge. The railroad tracks are only a
block east of Hwy 101. Good kack patch worth checking there also along the
road that parallels the tracks- there was a BTG Warbler there mid-Dec with
a couple OC Warblers.
Bob Fields reports 30 WESTERN BLUEBIRDS at Southwest Oregon Community
College in N Bend this morning. Good winter for this species around town.
Out at N Spit Coos Bay at old Weyco pond site there were 3 BARN SWALLOWS
this afternoon. Duck numbers have decreased and it is mainly scaup, Ruddy
Ds, Buffleheads, and 30 Canvasbacks. I did see one BONIE GULL float by too.
Happy Birding!
