A similar runt Whimbrel was in the University of Oregon bird collect when I
checked it several years ago. In the field it would have been recorded as an
Eskimo unless it was closely examined.

Years ago I found a "curlew" specimen in a nature center in Maine. The bird
looked very much like an Eskimo Curlew in size and shape, but closer
examination revealed it to be a runt Whimbrel.
