What was the possible Central American species that had been speculated?
Today, Judy Meredith, former Bend birder Kathy Beck, and Cindy Zalundardo and I
saw a Bicolored Hawk (currently considered a race of Sharp-shinned Hawk) near
Tumacacari, Arizona along the Santa Cruz River in some cottonwood trees. It was
a white bellied one, without reddish leg feathers, very similar to the bird in

It is a long way out of range to get to Arizona, so it is by no means
impossible for one to go further out of range to Oregon.
