Several years ago Glenn and I watched Red Crossbills foraging in the ashes of a
firepit in the Mt. Adams area. After minerals?

Hi Obol.
Yesterday I was at the Dee Wright Observatory on route 242. I was surprised
to find Red Crossbills there. They seemed to be eating something off the
rocks. Were they getting salt? Bugs? Plant material? All of the above?
