Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 28. If you have anything to add all Harry Nehls
at 503-233-3976.
BROAD-WINGED HAWKS were reported during the week at the Green Ridge and
Modoc Point Hawkwatch Stations. On September 25 a KENTUCKY WARBLER was near
Grants Pass. A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was seen September 23 at Cutler City.
A CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER was at Gearhart September 22. On September 23 a
NORTHERN PARULA was at the town of Fort Rock.
Conspicuous migrations during the week included many TURKEY VULTURES,
LEWIS'S WOODPECKERS, and YELLOW WARBLERS.
On September 24 a WHITE-FACED IBIS was along Fenk Road near Tillamook.
Another IBIS was reported September 18 at the Hatfield Science Center on
Yaquina Bay. A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was at Yaquina Bay September 23.
On September 22 three COMMON TERNS and four SNOW GEESE were on Sauvie
Island. The next day two SABINE'S GULLS were over the Columbia River off the
island. On September 21 two AVOCETS were at Mud Lake on Sauvie Island. A
WHITE-FACED IBIS was at the Vanport Wetlands September 21. On September 24 a
LAPLAND LONGSPUR was on Mt. Tabor in Portland. Three BLACK SWIFTS were there
September 20. A BOBOLINK was at Force Lake in North Portland September 22.
That day a PARASITIC JAEGER, AVOCET, two MARBLED GODWITS, and an AMERICAN
GOLDEN-PLOVER were at Fern Ridge Reservoir.
