Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday April 13. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On April 7 a SLATY-BACKED GULL was at Wireless Road near Astoria. A LAUGHING
GULL was photographed April 11 at South Beach State Park south of Newport.
The Ankeny NWR TUFTED DUCK continues to be seen. During the week a
LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCH was at a feeder near Ruch south of Medford. A BALTIMORE
ORIOLE was seen April 12 in Manzanita. On an offshore ship off Oregon during
the week were 38 MURPHY'S PETREL, some COOK'S PETRELS, and three SCRIPPS'S
MURRELETS.
Several HOUSE WRENS and CASSIN'S VIREOS were reported during the week.
Shorebirds are now arriving in numbers. TUFTED PUFFINS are now back on
Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach. YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS are now arriving bring
with them other warbler species.
On April 11 a FRANKLIN'S GULL was at South Beach south of Newport. Along
Lower River Road near Ridgefield NWR April 9 were 136 GREAT EGRETS and 95
GREATER YELLOWLEGS. That day three PURPLE MARTINS were on Sauvie Island.
Another was near Blodgett west of Corvallis. On April 11, 46 GREAT EGRETS
were at the Smith/Bybee Lakes colony. A PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER was seen
April 10 south of Independence. On April 7 a SABINE'S GULL and 81 RED-NECKED
PHALAROPES were at the Philomath Sewage Ponds. On April 8, 31 VAUX'S SWIFTS
were at the Agate Hall roost in Eugene. A BLACK SWIFT seen April 11 near
Veneta west of Eugene.
