Hi everyone,
The bird activity here on Fishback Hill west of Monmouth is pretty good.
Most notably, I saw one of a pair of VAUX'S SWIFTS that have been here
recently seemingly carrying nesting material. Are they known to nest away
from old brick chimneys and mature Grand Firs? Neither are very common on
the hill.
Other interesting birds included one breeding male BULLOCK'S ORIOLE, one
YELLOW WARBLER, at least six WESTERN TANAGERS, one male LAZULI BUNTING, a
pair of courting CHIPPING SPARROWS, and one WESTERN WOOD-PEWEE.
