How about Yellow-rumped Warbler? They are warbler size with yellow on the
chest, an eyering, and they flycatch.

Subject: Possible flycatcher at Soapstone Lk (Clatsop Co)

My husband and I birded around Soapstone Lake in Clatsop County today (off
Hwy 53). We saw and heard mostly species that we expected: PACIFIC WREN,
BROWN CREEPER, RED CROSSBILL, CHESTNUT BACKED CHICKADEE, GOLDEN CROWNED
KINGLET, SONG SPARROW, plus MALLARDS and BUFFLEHEAD on the lake. However,
we heard and briefly saw a bird that completely has us stumped. It sounded
like it might be a flycatcher, and when we caught a glimpse of it straight
overhead it was flycatching. It gave the impression from beneath of having
some yellow on it's chest and a white eye ring, although whether complete or
broken it never stood still enough to determine. It seemed much smaller
than I expected, more warbler or vireo sized than I typically picture
flycatchers, but we have very little experience with flycatchers here on the
west side of the Cascades. It was NOT a Pacific Slope flycatcher, as we
hear those frequently in our hikes. It had a 2-note call, very buzzy,
slurred, and down then up. We also heard a 1-note call, high, buzzy, and
descending. We were hiking in a mixed coniferous/alder forest, planted in
1961 and thinned in 2009. Where we heard and saw the bird was on the edge
of a wetland area and the lake, once in an alder and once possibly in a tall
conifer, but we only heard and didn't see that one.
Any help you can give us would be appreciated! It seemed much too early for
flycatchers, except that we've had such nice weather and maybe some have
stopped over on their way north?
