Spent much of today birding Baskett and Ankeny with Tristen Hynes, Tye Jeske
and Caleb Centanni. Highlights our first of season WW Pewee actively feeding in
the pocket of trees and brush at the west end of Coville Rd below the house, a
female Purple Martin at the narrows and single Snow Goose at Baskett and two at
Ankeny.
Other highlights multiple Yellow Warblers at the Pintail parking area at
Ankeny, lots of small groups of Orange-crowns everywhere, multiple yellowheads
here and there at Baskett, small wads of Least, Dunlin and Greater legs at both
refuges.
We saw no stilts at Baskett and we did not see the Tufted Duck at Ankeny.
