Decades ago these rocks were called the Harlequin Duck rocks. But I don't

Just north of Tillamook three semi-Palm plovers were being overtaken by
the incoming tide.  One bird chose (?) to swim off.  The bird disappeared
behind a flock of wigeons and I have no idea how far it swam.  Is this
behavior others have seen in plover?  There were five harlequin ducks just
south of Barview by the big rocks.  That is not a place I have seen them
before.  Very rough seas at Barview.
