Hi All,

Just a note that the reason the bunting was even found was it was coming to a
spot I had been seeding for several weeks prior to the Coos Bay CBC.  I had
planned on stopping the seeding after the CBC but will continue to put out seed
indefinitely or until the bird disappears.

Here are directions, reverse them if coming through from the north. Kind of
like heading to Millicoma Marsh.  Turn right (east) coming from the southern
direction on Hwy 101 at the sign for Allegany before you get to the south end
of Coos Bay (or just past the 7-11 on the south end of Coos Bay if coming from
the north on Hwy101).  Follow this road one mile and at the top of the hill
turn left on "D" St.  Stay straight on "D" street all the way through Eastside
(about 8 blocks or so) and continuing straight you will come to a large parking
lot area and boat ramp.  Drive to the very NW end of the parking lot into a
little area that is a bit detached from the rest of the parking area.  There
are several concrete barricades on the north end of parking spot.  A trail
takes off here and goes uphill a bit then quickly levels off. Stay left at a
small fork and you will quickly come to a large open area,  the seed is off on
the right.  You have to just
sit here and watch the seed and wait for the bunting to come in.  It is SO
bright green you can see it without bins. This is maybe 100 yards from the
parking area, not far.

I would recommend just sitting down and waiting, it comes in very often, not
sure what a tape would do, but it shouldn't be necessary.  You just need to
keep a low profile and the sparrows and bunting will come pouring into the
seed.  Standing up will keep the birds away. Also, one can entertain oneself
waiting by watching all the different sparrows come into the seed also.

If you come down and see it please let OBOL know.  I will try and get seed out
there every few days, it wouldn't hurt to freshen up the seed patch if you have
any handy though. Oh, this is a trail used by locals to hike and walk dogs, so
one may see people from time to time but it doesn't get near as much traffic as
Millicoma Marsh which is close by (I have stopped seeding there).

Happy birding all!
