I’m somewhat less late on it this week! Yesterday morning we had 18 birders and
a mercifully rain free two hours in Oaks Bottom. The first few minutes were a
warbler extravaganza with Orange-crowned, Nashville, Yellow-rumped,
Black-throated Gray, and Townsend’s warblers all making an appearance in the
same tree. We kept up our nest finding streak with a Northern Flicker nest
right near the parking lot, bringing our nest list up to 9 different species.
Highlights this week included a calling Western Tanager that we were able to
track down - it was the first of season for most of the group, and always a
delightful bird anyways. We discovered a Common Raven thanks to a very active
mob of crows, and not long after that had a calling Hammond’s Flycatcher.
We ended up with 48 species as a group. Another very successful day!
I posted more details about it all and some audio clips for anyone who was
