Hey, everyone.
We are still looking for a few hardy souls to come along on our spring
deepwater pelagic trip out of Newport on Sunday, May 17. Why go on a spring
pelagic trip? Unless you are doing a repositioning cruise, this is your
only chance to see seabirds heading north towards their breeding grounds
during spring migration. Sabine's Gulls, all three jaegers, both phalaropes
(much easier to distinguish in their stunning alternate/breeding plumage)
will likely be present, perhaps along with some lingering wintering birds
(Parakeet Auklet or Ancient Murrelet are rare, but possible, and the
possibility of something rare in deepwater water like a pterodroma (we
still hope to see a Murphy's Petrel on one of our pelagics). If you have
ever considered going out in a season other than the fall, this is your
chance. Go to the Oregon Pelagic Tours website (www.oregonpelagictours.com)
for more information, including how to register.
