I got there after Bill Tice and came close to running over the BLACK-LEGGED
KITTIWAKE Dave Irons found, almost to Newberg from Salem. I was looking
for a place to pull off the road where I saw Bill's car when it flew up.
Almost nailed it when it flew up into my face. That was easy, a minute
later a PEREGRINE FALCON was trying for the same thing on the lucky
Kittiwake. It flew a giant circle around and I think it came back. No one
knows why it would come back
On obol. I've seen this before a few times, younger or beginning birders
think they are being disrespected or worse when it isn't the case. Like
Alan said, us older ones, me more than him, there is a way we talk to each
other doesn't imply disrespect. If you met Joel, or Dave, Alan, Paul,
Darrel, Floyd and I don't know well the others you can name, you would know
that it's true. I know what Joel meant and it was not what some of you
thought, I think it's funny when someone mistakes a chlorox bottle for a
white bird, or whose spastic fingers mark the wrong species on a checklist.
Rodenkirks paystubs: It is factual that S. Dowlan and I found one of his,
as far away as you can get in Oregon, and his paystub was blowing around,
just shortly after he might claim to have gotten to Oregon about 1990 more
or less. I try to justify birders behavior, but why did TR become a
litterbug? If he is an alien, with copies, he might not have known
littering is wrong.
