We had two surprises today. The first was a Northern Harrier foraging
along the fence line of Big Meadow on Black Butte Ranch, the second was me
falling through the ice and finding myself waist deep in a canal running
through the meadow.
It was a bit of shock especially because I was carelessly dressed in blue
jeans when the ambient air temperature was 26 degrees Fahrenheit.
An appreciation for the term stiff-legged was cemented in my memory on our
walk back to the car!
