Hi,

At about 7:15 AM this morning (May 14), Roy Lowe was driving north on
HWY 101 to South Beach, when he saw a flock of unidentified dark birds
flying north that turned east at the Yaquina Bay Bridge. When Roy got
to the Hatfield Marine Science Center, he could see them making a big
loop eastward over the Newport Bayfront and around the Bay and then
start to make another loop. He was able to identify them as a flock
of about 21-25 White-faced Ibis. They then went north out of sight.
There is an east wind this morning that may have confused them.

They were last reported in Lincoln County in 2008 when 2 were at Idaho
Flats on the hot 5/16/2008 (Roy Lowe) and, on 5/19/2008, about 35-44
were along the Yachats coastline (Bob Lockett & Adrienne Wolf-Lockett)
and at Yaquina Head (Wayne Hoffman). Since 2000, we also had 1-2
Lincoln County records of them in May in 2000, 2001, and 2006.
