*********** I believe this is a Savannah Sparrow. It looks a lot flashier than I am accustomed to, but photos often look better to me than real life. It is a widespread species with many subspecies. Almost always in places with beach grass at the coast. The team I was on at the Yaquina CBC could not find a Savannah Sparrow despited concerted effort. In their place at the North Jetty we found Lincoln's Sparrows. Not expected at all.
