Thanks for the replies. A few others have replied privately including a
couple that suggested alarm call matches with Long-eared Owl. Some
context, LEOW has been seen here about January 1 a few years ago. Also
more frequently seen or heard here has been NSWO NOPO WESO GHOW, Barred
Owl, Barn Owl.
The owl heard was probably 100’ or more away, and just sounded larger. I
also am leaning towards LEOW but was very interested in others thoughts or
experiences.
