Greetings all, I just posted the second installment in a series covering last weekend's Morrow County 2020 blitz. It is entitled "Meet the County." It is designed to describe the various habitats that can be found in the county and offer a bit of an introduction to what you can expect to find if you decide to go birding there. Across the northern half of the county the human footprint on the land is considerable, but as you move south away from the Columbia River, that footprint becomes less obvious. There is a subtle beauty to the grassy rolling hills south of Heppner. Birding in the foothills of the Blue Mountains at the southern end of the county offers an exposure to species and subspecies that are more typical of the Rocky Mountains than the Oregon Cascades. http://www.birdfellow.com/journal/2014/06/08/morrow_county_2020_blitz_meet_the_county Dave Irons
