Small ponds still exist: Killdeer 40Spotted Sandpiper 2WILSON'S SNIPE 2BLACK-NECKED STILT 1 This bird acted very odd, it was out in the dry open flats, moving slowly. It would repeatedly look down, and take a step back. Sometimes 2 or 3 steps backward, while halfheartedly picking at the air in front of its breast. Look down and take a step back. Over and over again. Rock concert goers should sometimes take a step back, but why does a Black-necked Stilt do it?Greater Yellowlegs 7Least Sandpiper 40Western Sandpiper a fewWilson's Phalarope 1Yellow Breasted Chat distantSavannah Sparrow lots Both these lists are incomplete.Roy Gerig, Salem OR
