There have been a couple of silent Western-type flycatchers at HQ in recent
days. The refuge checklist just calls these Cordillerans but I’m not sure
there is really a basis for calling them anything unless they are calling. I
have heard obvious Pacslopes at Hart Mountain and exactly one Cordilleran in
Oregon, ever, by sound (Burnt River Canyon, Baker County).
What’s the current wisdom on these, er, species?
