I should have mentioned that it _appears_ that anyone can access these
archives without being 'signed up' for BOO. But freelists is in a bit of a
flux,
so I'm not sure of this.

They went so far as to set up another listserv just so people can carry
on conversations that are tangentially related to birding in Oregon--the

sites, Facebook communities and pages devoted to Malheur/birding/etc where
there are comment sections to engage with other like-minded (or otherwise)
people til your heart's content.
This rule applies to ALL OF US, no matter how interested or
disinterested in the situation we may individually be, or how irresistible
a certain story or comment is.
