Least Fly, Anna’s, Red(yellow)start all seen. Thanks to Alan and Paul for
postings. No one had listed any Visitor Center Sightings for Sept.
I did the 3 hour Bend to HQ; arriving for the mid morning doldrums, then
left at 4:30 before cooling; 3 hours back. Long drive and day.
Then Owen shows up; 5 1/2 hrs Portland to Page Spgs, then back-same day. His
story. He got eleventy hundred burst pics of the Least that hung next to us for
over an hour. What’s the point of a full binos bird view at 15’, eye level,
sitting down, when you can digitally look without having to twist around on the
bench? We worked up to 90% Least and eliminated all the other empids. It was
low in the bushes along the SE gravel area near the bench facing away.
I saw the A Redstart several times just east of the Visitors Center.
Townsend’s, P Wee, Maybe the Chestnut-sided? and two Mac Gillivaries all in the
same shady S-SE area.
f Anna’s and a couple f Black Chins at the feeder on the east side but not
till 4ish. They used the wire tree guards as perches and for jousting.
Lewis Woodpecker and L Nighthawk flying around 3ish. The display pond is
near empty and smells carpy. Thanks again for updating, Alan. Benson?
